Privacy Policy

Scallyroo.com has special concerns about the privacy of users who are children under the age of 13. Parents are strongly encouraged to participate in their children's online activities and monitor their children's use of e-mails and engagement in other electronic communication.

Privacy Policy Summary for Kids Under 13 Years of Age

As a kid on the internet, scallyroo.com takes special care to protect your personal information. Your privacy is very important to us and should be very important to you too.

To help protect your privacy, the government has created laws that don't let websites collect personal information from kids without letting their parents know. Since we don't want to break the law, we ask for as little information as we can and we don't share it with anyone without your parent's permission. We ask for and use your real first name only to identify you to your parent so your parent can authorize your account. We also ask for your date of birth to confirm your age, and a nickname / password to allow you to login upon account activation.

We also think of all of your content creations within scallyroo.com as personal information. That includes your interests, messages, messages to our support staff, and anything else you create or upload. Without your parent's approval, you can't create an account, share any of your content or interact with any friends on scallyroo.com.

Once we have your parent's approval, it is up to you and your parent to figure out how you want to share your personal information. It's important for you to learn and remember how easy it is to share information with others on the internet that you may regret. Be careful what information you upload to any site... You should never share specific personal information (like your full name, address, phone number and email address) online with anyone. And, if in doubt, talk to your parents, teachers, or guardians about what is appropriate to create, write, or upload to your scallyroo.com account.

If for some reason, we change our privacy policy, we'll let you and your parent know.

Privacy Policy Summary for Parents of Kids Under 13 Years of Age

Scallyroo.com was created with two objectives in mind. One of our goals is to bridge the communication gap between you and your child in an online space. In doing so, we think it is vital to have an outlet for your child to keep you updated on events in their life and our application permits this free flow of communication.

Second, is to allow parents the ability to control whom their children interact with in the scope of the website. We make you the contact for anyone looking to add your child to their Friends network.

The profiles on scallyroo.com are completely privatized, meaning that in order to interact or communicate with any other members on the site, our users need to be on each others friends list. Users under the age of 13 are insulated from any and all communication from any users on Scallyroo with whom they are NOT friends. And we give you, the parent, complete control over who your child is friends with by sending the friend requests to your email account. Essentially, you can accept or reject a friend request for your child. They can not. By including an authorized adult in the creation of every kid's scallyroo.com account, we are partnering with you to educate kids and protect their privacy.

What information we collect from children

Scallyroo is based on a social networking platform. As such, personal information, such as your child’s nickname and interests, may be read by others on your child’s profile page. But only by those in their friends network, which you (the Parent) control. Your child and all their information are basically invisible to other Scallyroo users, except for those users in your child’s friends list. If your child is interested in joining scallyroo, we directly collect limited personal information, such as a first name (to identify them to you as your child), nickname, date of birth (to confirm their age), and a parent's email address in order to process your child's registration request.

Once a parent provides consent to activate a child's account, they will have restricted access to the many features of Scallyroo, such as the Wish List, Goal Contracts, and Calendar. If you do not activate your child’s account they will be unable to register. If you decline (“Reject”) your child access to the site they will not only be unable to register but all the information they input while creating their account will be purged from our database.

What information we collect from parents

In order for you to provide consent and fully activate your child's account, we directly collect personal information from parents such as your email address

We use your email address to link you to your child's account and to communicate with you about support, security, privacy, or administrative issues.

Once you activate your child's account he or she will have limited access to the website. He/she can create a profile, create wish lists, set goals with you and add media to their profile page. They have no contact with other Scallyroo users. The only time they can be contacted by other Scallyroo users is when you approve a user as a friend for them. At which point they can message each other, and take advantage of some of the social networking features that Scallyroo offers. Other than the friends that you approve for them, they are completely insulated from all other interaction with other users of Scallyroo.

If you fully activate your child's account by providing consent, your child can begin to create content such as uploading music, setting goals, adding products to their wish list, and writing messages on their Graffiti Wall, all of which can be viewable by you and some of which can be viewed by any friends of your child on Scallyroo. We provide tools to allow you to monitor or approve your child's interaction with other Scallyroo members. These tools include specialized security settings that have been developed so that you, as the parent, can control and monitor your child's Scallyroo experience.

Additional Information...

We allow Scallyroo members to provide us with non-member friends' first names and email addresses to have Scallyroo send an invitation to the non-members to join Scallyroo. The names and email addresses are immediately deleted so no personal information is stored.

In the course of providing web-based products and services (such as web based games and applications) and in order to provide the highest quality user experience for our members, Scallyroo passively tracks the activity of users accessing our site. This information includes IP addresses of users, page views, unique visitors, and repeat visitors. This data is not correlated in any way with any personally identifiable information.

We also use cookies, which are stored on a user’s computer, to enhance user experience. This cookie passively tracks your preferences, when you are logged in, and some of your activities while on our site. You may choose to reject these cookies, but if you do, you may be unable to take advantage of all the scallyroo features and services. Refer to your browser's help information to learn how to disable cookies.

From time to time, Scallyroo may run promotions or special offers that may require you to provide certain information, such as your name, email address, or shipping address. These promotions and special offers are optional, but if you decide to participate, the personal information you provide may be shared with a third party in order to deliver awards or special offers to you.

Parents or legal guardians may request that we remove their child's personal information at any time. They can do this by sending us an email at support@scallyroo.com.

Or they can delete their child's account from the Edit Profile page.
